Clinical Supervision

I am a Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners approved Clinical Supervisor. The supervisor-supervisee relationship is a collaborative one based on mutual trust and respect. In order to uphold the standards of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) it is my goal to provide a safe environment that encourages growth and inspires confidence in honing your clinical skills. My mentoring style is strengths-based and I pride myself in bringing authenticity into our work together.

What are the requirements for Clinical Supervision?

In order to qualify for clinical supervision you must hold a masters degree in social work from an accredited university, be licensed in the State of Texas, and be currently employed in a clinical social work position.

During this time you must be employed and working at least 30 hours per week to be eligible to complete the supervision process. If you work part-time, you need to be working at least 15 hours per week to complete supervision.

The applicant completes a minimum of 100 hours of face-to-face or teleconferencing supervision, over the course of 3000 hours of professional experience, with a board-approved supervisor. For a full time employee this should be around 24 months and 48 months for a part-time employee.

What qualifies as a clinical social work position?

Per the State Board of Clinical Social Work Examiners, " At least one practice location must provide the Supervisee a minimum of four hours per week of direct clinical practice, gaining competency using specialized clinical knowledge and advanced skills to assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conditions, and addictions. Treatment methods must include individual, marital, couple, family, and group psychotherapy."

Do I need liability insurance?

Yes, you are required to obtain your own malpractice/liability insurance in the amount of a 1 million each incident/3 million aggregate policy. If you will be engaging in telehealth it may also be wise to add on technology coverage.
